Pregnancy pro test measures 17 different parameters
The Prega-Pro measures levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), progesterone (P4) and testosterone (T). These hormones regulate the reproductive system and can provide important information about a woman's health.
Pregnancy pro test requires a blood sample. A tourniquet (elastic) band is placed tightly on the upper arm. The patient is then asked to make a fist. This helps in the build-up of blood filling the veins. The skin is disinfected before needle insertion and the blood sample is collected in vacutainer.
Ideally all parameters should be within the biological reference range. Refer to individual test reports for significance of results
If the results of the Prega-Pro come back Present or Absent, there is likely a problem with the reproductive system. It is important to consult with your doctor to determine the cause and to discuss possible treatment options.
To prepare for the Prega-Pro, it is best not to eat or drink (other than water) the night before the test. Also, avoid taking medications or supplements that could interfere with the results.
Normal levels for each hormone should be within a certain range. Refer to individual test reports for the significance of the results. If any hormone is outside th biological reference range, you must talk to your doctor to determine what this means.
Prega-Pro is a comprehensive pregnancy or prenatal screening test that can identify a disease or condition in its early stages when treatment may be possible and it is less likely to cause serious issues.
NIPT stands for Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing, which is a screening test that can detect the presence of certain chromosomal abnormalities in a developing fetus. The test involves analyzing a sample of the mother's blood to look for fragments of fetal DNA. These fragments can be used to determine if the fetus has an increased risk of certain genetic conditions, such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, and Patau syndrome.
Prega-Pro can be used by:
- Expecting mothers
- Women who have previously done prenatal screening tests want a more accurate evaluation of their baby's health.
- Women with a family history of genetic diseases.
- To detect chromosomal abnormalities in women over 35 years of age.
- Women who have had miscarriages previously.
Some of the tests that may be ordered along with the Prega-Pro include:
- Ultrasounds: Ultrasounds are used to monitor the baby’s growth, check for any potential abnormalities and determine the baby’s age and sex.
- Blood tests: Blood tests are often used to test for potential infections that could harm the baby and check for any genetic issues.
- Urine tests: Urine tests measure the amount of protein, sugar and other substances in the urine and look for any signs of infection or other potential problems.
- Non-stress test: This test monitors the baby’s heartbeat to ensure that it is healthy and that the baby is getting enough oxygen.
- Amniocentesis: This test is typically done when the doctor suspects that there may be a genetic disorder or other problems. It involves taking a sample of the amniotic fluid and examining it for any genetic abnormalities.
