Single Antigen Bead Assay (Class I)

Single Antigen Bead Assay measures the presence of specific human leukocyte antigens (HLA) (Class I) in your blood serum.

• To assess the compatibility of a donor organ with a recipient in transplant immunology • To determine the probability of developing certain autoimmune diseases • To identify conditions related to HLA antibodies and monitor treatment effectiveness • To evaluate the response to immunosuppressive therapy in transplant patients

Your doctor might recommend this test if you • are scheduled for an organ or bone marrow transplant, • are potential organ donor, • have a history of autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, or • show signs of transplant rejection, like fever, fatigue, or weight gain.

Abnormal results may indicate that a donor organ or tissue is not suitable for transplant due to insufficient compatibility. They may also indicate the risk of developing certain autoimmune diseases or conditions related to HLA antibodies.

• The area around the puncture site on your arm will be cleaned with an antiseptic. • A needle will be inserted into your vein to draw blood. • The collected blood sample will be sent to a laboratory for testing.

• Inform your doctor of any medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and herbal supplements. Also, inform them if you have any specific requirements. • Avoid consuming food or drinks for 8 hours before the test. • Bring a list of all your current medications and supplements.
