Management Team Ms. Ameera Shah- CEO & MD Ms. Ameera Shah is the CEO and Managing Director of Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., a multinational chain of diagnostic centers. A successful young entrepreneur, Ms. Shah heads India’s leading chain of diagnostic centers, Metropolis. She is highly respected in the healthcare world and has been recently voted by Modern Medicare as The Young entrepreneur of the Year in India. Her leadership efforts in diagnostics have drawn recognition both for Indian Industry and Metropolis. Ms Shah has been elected the Secretary of the IAPL (Indian Association of Pathology Laboratories) and is a member of most prominent diagnostics and healthcare committees in CII. Ms. Shah received a degree in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and has been recently selected as part of the prestigious Owner-President Program at Harvard University. Under her stewardship, Metropolis has evolved from its single pathology laboratory status in 2002 to a fully integrated multinational chain of 60 diagnostic centers across South Asia, Middle East and Africa in 2010. Using her deal-making abilities, the company has expanded at a scorching pace in India and has created substantial JV’s in Sri Lanka, UAE and South Africa. Under her leadership, Metropolis has become a well-respected healthcare brand, catering to more than 10,000 small labs, nursing homes and hospitals, over 20,000 consultants and processes more than 12 million test annually. However, Metropolis happened only after Dr Shah had made a name as chief pathologist in some renowned hospitals like Breach Candy, Cumballa Hill, Sir H.N Hospital and Saifee Hospital.He has also been associated with India’s best pharmaceutical companies. Dr Shah was technical director of Zydus Cadilla and has been executive director (Diagnostic Division) of Dr Reddys Laboratories Limited.An alumnus of Grants Medical, Mumbai, where he completed his MD in Pathology and Bacteriology, he is also a passionate researcher and many of his works, on subjects like tumor malignancies, fetal sex, and detection of willTaxoplasma Gondii, have been published. A Research Fellow of the prestigious Cornell Medical Center, New York, he has brought many radical innovations in diagnostic medicine to India.Dr Sushil Shah had always wanted to introduce in India, a diagnostic service that was medically advanced and met global standards of quality. The Metropolis group benefits from this immensely skilled and knowledgeable team: Dr. Nilesh Shah, COO & Head of Scientific Services Dr. Nilesh Shah looks after operations across the group. He has set up several laboratories across the globe and standardized its processes. He is a microbiology graduate and Ph.D having 22 years of experience in various branches of clinical laboratory, instrumentations, techniques, clinical trial laboratory services adn several non-technical segments like IT, Logistics, Materials Management, Customer Service, HR, Sales, business development etc. He has played key role in bringing several new tests and techniques to Metropolis for the past 20+ years.  Dr. Ajit Golwilkar, Managing Director - Golwilkar Metropolis Health Services Pvt. Ltd. He is the Chairman and the managing director of Dr.Golwilkar Laboratories Ltd. After completing post graduation from Pune & Mumbai Dr.Golwilkar had set out with the commitment to provide complete pathology testing facilities under one roof and thus founded Dr.Golwilkar Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Pune. His in-depth knowledge of the subject & all round expertise has ensured the technical validity of the reports. Along with this, his dignified presence has ensured a high morale amongst staff & patients alike Dr. Anuradha Murthy, M.D - Honorary Consultant Histopathologists at hospitals in and around Mumbai for over 25 years, Dr. Anuradha Murthy helped develop & establish Histopathology division at Metropolis. A winner of Shri H.Y Salaskar award, Dr.Murthy’s special interests lies in Pediatric Pathology, Renal Pathology , Immuno Histochemistry and bone marrow biopsy. Dr. Awanti Golwilkar – Mehendale, M.D- Director (Golwilkar Metropolis) An MD in Pathology from Pune University, Dr.Awanti Golwilkar – Mehendale has also been University topper in M.D and University ranker in all years of M.B.B.S. with special interest in Surgical Pathology and Immunohistochemistry, Dr.Awanti has been associated with Golwilkar Metropolis, Pune for over a year now as Director & Chief Of Laboratory. She has been actively involved in Implementing and maintaining quality control measures in Histopathology dept of Golwilkar Metropolis as per NABL – ISO 17025 requirements. Dr. Ravikumar.H.N Dr.Ravikumar.H.N is an alumni of Gulbarga University, Bellary, where he completed his MBBS. He also holds a Diploma in Clinical Pathology and Doctorate of Medicine in Pathology from Bangalore University. He has 20 years of Laboratory experience in Diagnostic Services including Histopathology, Cytology, Hematology and Clinical Pathology His Teaching Experience includes 17 years at the Under Graduate and Past Graduate level. He retired voluntarily as Associate professor. He was also previously an undergraduate examiner for RGUHS University. He has held the posts of Associate proffessor of Pathology at BRAMC, Bangalore and Managing Director and Senior Consultant Pathologist - RV Diagnostic Laboratory, Bangalore (NAML Accredited Lab). He was also the Empanelled Technical Assessor for Histopathology, Cytology Clinical pathology and Haematology, NABL, New Delhi. Having assessed about 20 labs all over India, he has conducted many slide seminars and National levels. He is also a founder member of ILQA (Inter Laboratory Quality Assurance), Bangalore. His Dissertation is titled "Ultrasound and CT Guided FNAC of Thoracic and Abdominal Masses" for which the study was carried out at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. Dr. Shirish Shah - (MD Path and Bacteriology) Dr.Shirish Shah (MD Path and Bacteriology) is an MBBS from K M School of Post Graduate and Research(VS Hospital, Ahmedabad). He started his private practice, thus formally venturing into the field in the year 1986. With almost 25 years of experience in this field and working as a director and consultant pathologist in this firm, his areas of interest always have been Hematology, Immunoflurosence and Immunoassay. Dr.Shirish Shah has also served at various trusts and Hospitals which includes Jivraj Mehta Hospital, Thakersay Hospital, Kutchi Seva Samaj and Raj Centre. Dr.Shirish Shah also is the Vice President of the Ahmedabad Association of Practicing Pathologists and Microbiology (Ahmedabad branch). He also happens to be the Technical committee member at the Indian Red Cross society in Ahmedabad. Dr. Pranav Desai- (MD Path DCP Path) Dr.Pranav Desai passed his MBBS, MD and DCP in Pathology from the Government Medical College Surat. He passed his MD in the year 1997. After completing his MD he got a chance to learn the intricacies of Histopathology and Immunohistochemistry as he was trained under Dr.A R Chitale in Bombay Hospital till January 1999. His stints at the hospital lead him to assist Dr.Chitale on a Brain Tumour project. After the rigorous training, he initially ventured into joining Desai Clinical Laboratory in 1999 as a consultant Pathologist. He was instrumental in starting the Immunohistochemistry in the lab. Desai later went on to win accolades for being the first private lab in Gujarat to start a technique which is very useful in Oncopathology. Dr.Pranav Desai is currently the Managing Director and full time Histopathologist in Desai Metropolis Health Services Private limited, Surat. Dr. Leenus Paul- (MD Path) Dr. Leenus Paul B Sc. MBBS., MD (Path) graduated from Medical College Kottayam in 1987 and did post graduation in pathology from Medical College Trivandrum in 1995. He worked as the Doctor in Charge for two years and as the Medical Officer in IMA Blood Bank at Kochi till 2001 October. Specialty Diagnostic Services the first and only of its kind in Perumbavoor, started in 2001 November has the full infrastructure and facilities for carrying out laboratory investigations utilizing the most advanced technologies in the modern diagnostic field. Dr. Leenus Paul is the Chief Pathologist of SDS Metropolis and also in charge of Metropolis - Modern Hospital HLM. Dr. Ramesh Kumar- (PhD Medical Biochemistry) Dr. Ramesh Kumar had his Ph D in Medical Biochemistry from Calicut University. He has presented and published many papers related to Biochemistry and Laboratory Approaches. His career started with Medical trust Hospital, Ernakulam and he had also worked for Government Medical College, Thrissur. With his 27 years experience as Biochemist and Lab in Charge at different hospitals and Labs he started Endocrinology and Immunology Lab (EI Lab) in 1994 to conduct special investigations in Immunology, Hormones, drug assays, infectious diseases,etc...In the year 2006, E I lab joined with Metropolis. He is also the Assessor for NABL. Dr. Mrs. J. Bhatia- Chief of Lab Services & Projects - North She has been the Chairman and the Managing Director of Final Diagnosis Pvt. Ltd. After completing post graduation from Amritsar in 1989, Dr. Bhatia set out to provide comprehensive diagnostic facilities in Noida. Being the first MD (Pathology) to set up the state of the art facility in Noida, she took over several hospital labs on partnership functioning. Awarded ‘Sadhbavna Award-97’ by Chief Minister Delhi, Sh. Madanlal Khurana. Quality has remained a hidden ingredient in lab operations right from its inception. The lab became the first NABL accredited lab in the region. In her current designation, she has earned a respectable position to look after the functioning and business development in North India, Dubai and South Africa.
